What Opportunities Exist for Subcontracting?

The Department of Defense requires major prime contractors and subcontractors receiving contracts valued over $500,000 and $1 million for construction to develop plans and goals for subcontracting. In 2001, this requirement generated a significant subcontracting market with prime contractors awarding $60.5 billion in subcontracts, of which $23.6 billion was awarded to small business firms.
